The Elliðaárdalur power station marked the beginning of electrification in Reykjavík when it was commissioned in 1921 and it charted the course for the future. Electricity and the utilities that followed revolutionized the quality of life of the city's residents and with it came knowledge and ingenuity that society still relies on today.
Just as the rivers were previously harnessed, the emphasis is now on harnessing people and ingenuity in Elliðaárdalur.
